The situation here is still tragic and very serious. Despite the lockdown, the contagion keeps running, we have 41.000 infected people.
So far, me and my family are fine, we barely go out, just once a week do to the shop and stock up food, beverages and stuff, but clearly not everyone is respecting the new rules.
I get that this new routine is weird and hard to take in, but staying home is the only way to get rid of Corona Virus.
I hope our government will lock down even more activities, and will also forbid sport ones, because too many people still go out with the excuse to go running.
I hope this will soon be over and will just be a bad memory.
Praying for all of us, wishing you all the best. I'll keep adding content on the community, maybe not as often as usual, but I will keep this place alive, to loosen up all the tension and anxiety.
Please, stay safe out there and stay home!

I can tell you that people here are still piling into stores and that frightens me. I have to go out because I am considered essential but so many people are just no listening when they are told to stay in and the ones that scare me the most are the ones who straight up say, "This is no big deal."

There was an article recently about a hospital in NYC that had to rent a refrigerated truck. The bodies are just put in the truck and taken away. I have been blunt with my mother, especially since I am exposed to so many people every day, that the situation is dire. The cases in my state are jumping by the hundreds. She is 73 and a diabetic, her outcome will not be good if she contracts the virus so I told her that I will have to stay away from her until this is all over. She can't quite get it through her head and is acting like I am telling her that I don't love her and don't want to spend time with her.
I hope you and your family are still doing well and everyone is healthy.

Yeah, I wake up every day and my first thought is, "I don't want to go out there." I understand that people need to shop for food and I have no problem with the people who are respecting the social distancing guidelines and standing back away from me and other shoppers, but the ones that don't scare the daylights out of me. I was standing in an aisle yesterday and when I turned around there was a man so close to me that our shoulders bumped. I asked him to please back up and he laughed at me. I work in a plague minefield.

in some cities some idiots are getting used to throwing their used masks and gloves on the streets

We are seeing that, too. I haven't found them in our parking lot...yet...but I have seen pictures, and have seen them myself, of masks and gloves strewn all over parking lots of other stores. Humans are so dirty and disgusting and I just don't understand why this isn't getting through their thick skulls. Nevermind...I do know. They want to protect themselves but spare no thoughts for others.

I have been wearing gloves and the company told us that they will start sending the stores masks, so I hope that will happen soon. I would buy my own but there are none to be had. My Governor issued a "Stay at Home" order for the entire state yesterday but said that he will let it up to the people to police themselves right now instead of having the police enforce it. Let's see if people listen because, right now, I don't have a lot of faith in humanity.

I hope all is still well with you and your family. I know you are doing what you can to stay safe, but people out there are just...awful.

I live near a place called Centralia. It was left a ghost town due to an underground mine fire (The movie Silent Hill was inspired by it). There is a stretch of highway that has been blocked off for years and it has now become known as Graffiti Highway because...well, that is probably self-explanatory...anyway, it is a popular place to hike and today crews all but destroyed it in order to keep people away. The locals have been gathering by the hundreds. Seriously, there were almost 400 people there one night having a big ass party and the State Police had to come in and break it up. The point of this long story is, we are going to see waves of this virus through the summer because people just don't listen. My state is on a stay at home order through April 30 but so many people have been coming into the store to buy food for big family Easter dinners because "We have to live our lives." No. Easter is canceled, everyone! If you just stay away from each other this year, there will be Easter next year. If you get together this year, not all of you will be around next year.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's friend. I have been lucky so far and no one I know has been affected by this. I hope it can stay that way but we are not projected to hit our peak here in PA until around the 18th of this month.

I would have thought that the people in my state would be able to look at NY, our literal neighbor, and learn that this can get out of hand very quickly, but sadly, that is not the case. Yesterday, only about 30% of the people I encountered were wearing masks. I wore one for my entire shift and took one with me because I had to make a stop on the way home for soap and toothpaste and I can't help but look at everyone who is NOT wearing one as totally irresponsible.
We are going to get through this, sweetie, with our health and some of our sanity left. I know that it's hard to feel strong because I am breaking down every day too, but we'll come out of this together. Thank you for listening to me vent all the time, by the way. <3
